I first had a long and laborious interview process via a staffing agency. I completed background checks, credit checks and several interviews including Skype interviews. The problem was, that even after NACE made a determination to go forward with two other candidates, my 7 references will still called and each spent 45min-60 min on the phone on the weekend answering questions. I understand the rigor of interviewing, but I don't understand why NACE continued on when the hiring manager already determined that I would not continue forward as candidate.
NACE Institute did not prepare for the interview and was not familiar with my background. I was asked several questions that were not relevant to the work I'd be doing on the job. I was really just part of their due diligence.
Interviews are a two way street - and this kind of practice can not be good for the The National Association of Corrosion Engineers.
