      Software Engineer Interview

      13 May 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mountain View, CA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Muon Space (Mountain View, CA) in May 2025

      Interview

5-6 virtual interviews starting with 2 screens (hiring manager and coding). All the rounds had a good mix of being challenging but not abstract / arbitrary (i.e. each question felt like it had some bearing on the sort of work done on satellites). Interviewers were all engaged, helpful and answered questions. Later rounds included very senior folks who could give a good sense of the technical and business vision. I thought I had a good clear picture of the important facets of the company by the end of it.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Coding, system design (APIs), troubleshooting.

      Application

      I interviewed at Muon Space

      Interview

Onsite interview describing the business and the match. I enjoyed discussing large-scale systems validation, hardware-software integration, and reliability engineering challenges. The conversation was engaging, technically deep, and gave me a stronger understanding of the team’s mission and engineering culture.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How can my experience help the mission?

      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Muon Space (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2025

      Interview

Started with a recruiter message, then we had a call and discussed my work experience. They mentioned they are a series B and worked with fire monitoring how they share data with fire departments. Then scheduled a call with a member of the team. Based on the questions they ask, it does not seem like a place worth working for.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A lot of random behavioral questions. Not sure what they were looking for. Most of them were negative questions 1. What is your superpower? 2. Why should we hire you? 3. Name a time you failed. 4. How do you settle arguments? 5. How do you work under pressure?
