I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mothership Lab (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2018
Interview
The first interview is a video interview where you record yourself answering a bunch of preset questions. You get NO opportunity to actually talk to or ask questions of the company before you get brought in to the in person interview. This honestly speaks volumes of the laziness of the company. I get that they want to save time, but it’s rude because interviews are a 2 way street and applicants are taking time out of THEIR day to meet you. Shows how the company treats employees. Also, at the in person interview, I got the impression that “we are looking for someone that enjoys start up culture” is code for “we expect you to work overtime with a low salary in exchange for equity.” This is good and all, IF the company ends up making it big. That’s something you can research and decide for yourself (I think no). Also, the logistics coordinator position sounds appealing in their job ad. But after the interview and shadow session, it was clear that the position is a glorified customer service rep/call center position.
