I applied online. I interviewed at Moelis & Company
Interview
3 rounds of interviews with an analyst, an associate, and an ED.
Analyst round was half technical, half behavioural. Pretty chill overall. Chitchatting about my and his background pre-IB.
Associate round was mostly technical, started off with typical 3 Whys.
ED round was mainly motivational and behavioural, with only 1 or 2 technicals.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Technicals: Mostly IB 400 questions, not many unusual ones.
Behavioural & Motivation: Why Moelis, Why IB, Why this location?
Heavy emphasis on past experience. Could pop up a few technicals along the way, for example, how did you analyze the cost synergy in the model, and why that assumption?
4 rounds of interview and a case study (take home) - nice interviewers but tough and non standard technicals. Overall positive experience - interviewers care about personality as much as technicals early on.
I received a message from a recruiter to do a 30-min initial zoom call with the business manager. Very straight forward, talked about my background and my experience and shared a little about what the team does.
