      Android Developer Interview

      9 Dec 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Mintos in Nov 2024

      Interview

The process consisted of three stages. Initial interview focused extensively on past work experience, with very limited discussion about the company or role details. The interviewer's approach to discussing technical projects suggested some disconnect in understanding software development workflows. Following this, I completed a comprehensive technical assignment, investing significant effort to demonstrate advanced implementation capabilities. However, during the subsequent technical interview, which was conducted by an iOS developer and the Android team lead, my completed assignment wasn't discussed at all. The technical interview primarily focused on in-depth Java core concepts, with surprisingly minimal attention to modern Android development practices including Kotlin. During this discussion, it became apparent that the project utilizes outdated technical approaches that weren't mentioned earlier in the process. The interview questions seemed to focus on legacy development practices rather than contemporary Android development. After receiving a rejection, my request for constructive feedback went unanswered even after multiple followups. While I appreciate the opportunity, I believe providing more transparency about the tech stack and maintaining better pre and post-interview communication would enhance the candidate experience.
