I was informed that an offer was expected within a few days, but communication ceased afterward and I never received any follow-up. Recently learned they promoted someone internally. Disappointing recruitment experience and a complete waste of my time.

Believe it or not, but candidates applying also have day jobs to attend to, hence short-notice screening calls with limited preparation time for candidates merely serve the purpose for the hiring manager to establish a candidate pipeline, but not to actually scrutinise qualified candidates, assuming that’s the only intention.
