Applied online and got an email to setup an initial interview. The only problem is, the initial interview was one of those "one way interviews" where you don't talk to a person, but rather answer questions to a camera. I've done these before, and I've always found them cold and insulting to the candidate.
An interview should be a two way street where both parties get to learn about one another. Recording what amounts to an audition tape was already a red flag, and is ripe for exploitation from an employer. Who watches these videos? How are they stored? Are you being judged by your age, race, or gender before you even have a "real interview"?
I finished the video interview and then got a rejection email not long after. I should point out that I am a minority, and with this video audition I didn't make it through round 1 despite getting offers from other companies around the same time. Draw your own conclusions.
