      For Microsoft research engineer in Cambridge, be ready to solve one coding question (they will provide the problem before live video interview with a researcher). You have to submit the solution two days before interview. In the live screening interview, be ready to explain your solution, approach and they can ask to debug code and may ask you to write test cases for the problem.

      For ML research engineer. ML system design interview, behavior, and ML coding. The ML system design interview was very similar to my domain (LLMs). The coding interview was about coding on the job, not like LC.

      telephone interviewed by head of research-team (PHD, researcher), was asked about my general background as SW engineer, and familiarity with the field of ML. then i was invited for direct interview with only a single team member who is a research engineer and not a researcher.

      Questions introduced were not referring directly to field for which position was ( Machine learning). just dealt with plain sw engineering questions : past experience, recursions, data structures etc.
