The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WA) in Feb 2009
Interview
Microsoft interviews are strongly socialized - the process and (type of) questions are surprisingly uniform. Typically, there are 4-5 interviewers, plus the hiring manager, if you're considered a strong candidate. These group opinions are very powerful in the hiring process - it's extremely rare that a manager overrules the panel, even when privately, the manager may indicate that he or she would have hired the candidate based on their own read. (Bad hires eventually count against all the interviewers...)

Question 1
MS interviewers are 'trained' not to lead the interviewee by asking questions that reveal information - most of the questions tend to be a bit banal - "where have you succeeeded, failed, what did you learn?"
3 rounds - recruiter, hiring manager, stakeholders. overall good but since they had a very specific experience they were looking for (which I did not have) that should have been the gate from the start
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WA) in Aug 2023
Interview
2 phone interviews, 30 minute each, both interviewers asked questions related to background of work, skills that was developed during experience, as well as questions regarding what they were looking for and how my does my previous experience fit with what they are asking for.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2021
Interview
Four rounds of interviews by various stakeholders who would work with the role being interviewed for. Every interviewer had a different perspective and would interact with the role differently. Really gave a great 360 view of what the role would entail.

Experience related questions as well as scenario/what did you do to resolve questions.
