I posted this on the employee review, then I found this the interview reviews.
I called for an interview at he Mississauga location after seeing an online add. The woman who answered the phone was pleasant, and we set up an interview for today. When I arrived this morning I was walking towards the office when I overheard a woman complaining about and running down a current employee. She was saying she was so sick of this woman and mocking her speech. I was very uncomfortable to hear all she said, but I knocked on the OPEN door anyway. The same woman who was complaining came out all smiles to greet me, and I introduced myself and said I was here for my interview. She asked me to fill out the application and to let her know when I was done. I did so, and as I have been a homemaker for the last 20 years it did not take long. When she looked at it she said, "This is going to be a problem, you have no work references (the last cleaning place I worked is out of business) and personal references are useless" Then she proceeded to say that she had no way to "check" on me, implying that I might steal from her clients. I said that I do not steal things. She said "Well I'm glad you said it, I wasn't going to" I told her that I have NO criminal record and that my driving record was spotless, both of which I can prove. That's not good enough for this woman, she would need to ask former employers if I steal things (I do NOT steal things, ever) She then proceeded to tell me that I should call another Merry Maid location, as "they might be desperate enough to hire you without work references" This woman was rude and condesending, and I would not work for her if hers was the last business on earth. There are a couple of employee reviews about a nasty, backstabbing, theft obsessed, rude woman at Merry Maids that point to the Mississagua location without saying so of course. I surmised that myself after meeting this woman. Avoid this location like the plague.
