Interview
The process for a Financial Services Associate role interview involved three rounds: a virtual HR screening, an in-person interview and a final virtual interview. The HR representative was fantastic—extremely professional, respectful of my time, and diligent with early follow-ups. However, the process fell apart completely with the senior management. Both the interviewers promised a follow-up after the final round within a day or two. It has now been more than 5 weeks of complete silence.
5 Weeks of Total Ghosting: Complete silence after the third interview. Both managers explicitly broke their commitment to provide an update, completely wasting my time.
Unprofessional, Defensive Management: Both in person and virtual interviewers were highly unprofessional and kept repeating the same questions. They completely disregarded my work experience, skill set and financial services industry knowledge gained during my long professional career in the Middle East and Canada. Instead of a structured interview, both fixated entirely on questioning why I wanted to leave a big bank for a credit union, treating my background like a concern rather than an asset.
Leadership Disconnect: There is a massive drop in professionalism and respect when transitioning from the HR screening to the actual management interviews. During my in-person interview, I got an impression that the interviewer (in-person) showed signs of insecurity towards his own position as I had much more professional experience in banking and financial services industry working within the country and abroad.
Heads Up to Future Candidates: HR will treat you well but be prepared for a frustrating shift when meeting the senior management. If you come from a major bank, expect defensive questioning from both local and regional leadership about your background, followed by total ghosting after the final round.
I am highly disappointed and dissatisfied as I had high hopes and heard great things about this particular employer. No written or verbal communication at all after 3 interviews from the HR or the Senior Management is totally unacceptable. Of course, I have received multiple valuable offers since and currently considering 2 of them for a final decision.

Question 1
Your HR team does an excellent job creating a positive candidate experience, but your management interviewers (in-person and virtual) are ruining it. Train your management team to stop interrogating major banks candidates with extensive professional experience defensively and to match HR's level of professionalism and courtesy.
pretty smooth. first round with HR is fast. I heard back after like 5 days, and had another round with the branch manager. then they got back after 2 weeks

Question 1
first round with HR is pretty fast and straightforward. She asked to tell her about myself, why I'm applying to Meridian, my previous experience, strength and weaknesses, RRSP and TFSA etc. second round with the branch manager was more deep and focuses a lot on your previous experience, like what mistakes that you've done and how you fixed it, a time your boss gave you feedback and what was it, a time you dealt with an angry client etc.

Interview
Typical job interview for a contact center role. Hiring managers were pleasant and clealry set the right expectations for the role. However they were misleading when it came to starting salary. I got a lower figure from the manager who interviewed me for the second interview.
