I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Medium (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2020
Interview
The process was very smooth from start to finish. Medium was very accommodating to a period after the initial phone screen where I caught the flu and had to re-schedule. I felt that the communication throughout was very timely and no "ghosting" occurred as I've seen in other reviews. I always felt informed and that the recruiters were being open and honest with me each step along the way.
The process goes like this:
1. Phone Screen w/ Recruiter (are you a real human being?)
2. 1:1 Video Call w/ Director (resume walk-through, why Medium, etc)
3. On-Site w/ 3-4 People & Lunch
4. 1:1 Phone Call w/ VP (final stamp of approval)
Start-to-finish it was about 2 months, but I can't imagine it would typically take this long. The holiday season fell between the initial phone screen and my 2nd interview and I caught the flu at some point in there, but everything was very timely after that (keeping in mind I had to travel across the country for the on-site).
Interview questions are primarily behavioral (non-developer roles), assessing work history and overall fit within the organization (with a heavier emphasis on the startup culture and determining your desire to work in that environment). They really want people who exhibit passion for the product and a desire to do whatever it takes to make it successful going forward.

Interview
Applied for role. Recruiter reached out within a few days to schedule first call with hiring manager (another TPM). Had a really good call. Didn't hear anything back from the recruiter after a week, so I decided to reach out to see if there was still interest. Recruiter apologized and said that they wanted to move forward with another video interview. Second interview was with a Engineering Senior Leader over google hangout. Ask basic questions about my background and experience. Asked a lot of questions about my past roles. Seemed to be fixated on what my current management thought about me. I have worked for some big names and got the feeling that the interviewer was skeptical. Mentioned that references would be checked. Bit of an awkward experience being asked so many questions about my current management. Last interview took place about 5 weeks ago. Never received any feedback from the recruiter. Completely ghosted. Not going to mention the recruiters name, but he discovered that he had a reputation for ghosting people at his last company.
