I applied online. I interviewed at MedSleep (Victoria, BC)
Interview
There were a few things during the interview process that made a poor impression on me of the company.
First of all, the pay is very low for this kind of role. $19-20 for an MOA position is below market value. For the complexity of the position, and given that this is a for-profit company, I would expect more.
Second, there were THREE interviews. A screening call, a video call, and a "job shadow" where I watched the current MOA for an hour, and basically learned how to do the whole role. This seemed very excessive.
Third, was the attitude of management. The Manager referred to another staff person as "girl" when she was a full-grown woman, which felt infantilising and condescending. And, I overheard a conversation about religion, which I feel is inappropriate for the workplace.
Easy, straightforward interviews including in person observation shift to understand workings and demands of the job. They did not ask many questions - seemed to be in a rush to hire. Management fairly open in communication but has a mandatory contract of minimum time spent at company or monetary value if you try to resign.

Interview
Interview stages involved one with the hiring manager where basic STAR questions were asked and then an interview with the clinical manager about job expectations and responsibilities. The last phase involves an unpaid shadow shift that lets you try out the position before fully committing.
