Interview process was fine and as follows: 1) 30 minute phone screening 2) If successful get invited to office for an hour to see day to day life 3) Receive offer on follow up call Now, that would all be great, except the role was for an “experienced” full stack developer. Not once during the interview process did we discuss coding challenges or even review any of my code. I was told I’d start at the bottom regardless building button components in React and work my way up. But the offer was 30k. This is a skilled position offering the same pay as Picassos Pizza. They use the guise that you’ll be working as a junior dev with mentorship from the senior staff and that they offer a very unique training process focusing on an employee’s intangibles. If the company really believed in their philosophy and abilities to train/retain talent, they’d offer a fair, not pizza shop, wage. This is a scheme preying on desperate people/recent grads. Do yourself a favor and build your network, interact with real people who share your interests, build projects in public, contribute to open source projects and do not accept job offers for such low wages in skilled positions. You are better than you think. With all that being said, I met some pretty cool people at Mean Guppy. Sadly, being cool doesn’t pay the bills.
