I applied online. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2022
Interview
One phone screening, one pre interview chat and one virtual interview. Then I was brought to IL for a full day onsite. There was also a group dinner the day before the full onsite day.
I applied online. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Elmhurst, IL) in Jan 2026
Interview
The interview process was very typical in terms of the questions they asked. They flew me out to Chicago and put me up in a nice hotel. They took me and a few of the other recruits out to dinner the night before. Then, we got the opportunity the day of to tour their facility. There were two interviews with different leaders/managers, and that was about it. Typical behavioral questions.

Question 1
How would your team members describe you? What's one critical thing they would say?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2025
Interview
Lots of behavioral interviews for both systems and management. McMaster Carr sometimes steers dual candidates to pick a track and stick to it. Lots of perks that came with the process. 1 hr recruiter convo then a 15 mins check in then a 2 hr back to back interview on site. They fly you out and cover food and accommodations

Question 1
Tell us about a time you solved an ambiguous problem. Lots of emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking
The interviewing process was seamless. After hiring manager screenings there were at least three other interviews. The interviewers asked about different skills and areas, and there was transparency around what the company was looking for. I truly appreciated the ability to meet with someone in my role prior to the final interviews.
