I interviewed for a position at Project Liberty (with technically the employer being McCourt Global) for about 3-4 weeks. I received an offer for the position and accepted it on April 24. I then proceeded to notify my current employer that same day, as I wanted to leave on good terms and give them enough time for the transition.
However, I received word from McCourt on May 7 that they were rescinding the mutually signed offer letter. This was two weeks after accepting the role and shortly before the start date. They were clear in emphasizing that it was no fault of my own, but due to a hiring/funding freeze.
As mentioned, I had already put in my notice at my previous company and had three days of work remaining. This obviously put me in a very tenuous situation with them.
If that's how they treat people who have gone through the interview process and accepted an offer, then I'd imagine general employee welfare is not that much better.
It's really some of the most unprofessional and reprehensible behavior from an organization that I've experienced in my career. Just severely damaging people's livelihoods.
