Two full-day interviews with 30-60 minute individual meetings with members of the search committee and administrative staff. One hour research presentation. Write a detailed 5-year research and collaborative plan. One hour panel interview with search committee to answer set of pre-specified questions. Lunch with various postdocs and staff scientists, dinner with members of the search committee. What make the process very difficult is that you are provided with minimal feedback about specific requirements desired by the search committee. The individuals meetings often were unstructured, and if issues and questions arose in discussing research plans, the short interview time means those issues go unresolved, with no real mechanism for followup. Search committee members tend to provide different and conflicting viewpoints. In general, this make the whole process opaque and the evaluation process is not well defined.
