      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at MarketCast (Los Angeles, CA) in Jun 2015

      Interview

I had one telephone interview and one on-site interview with two of the people I would be working under. Their concern was that coming from the start-up/digital world I would get bored with the repetitive nature of the job doing data interpretation. I spoke with each person for 30 minutes-ish and could have easily chatted for more.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me why I was looking to move from digital to a role in traditional media.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at MarketCast (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2017

      Interview

I applied for this position in September 2016 and interviewed in February 2017. In September I had a great phone conversation with HR and then completed a very basic QRE via email, after which I heard nothing. I reached out a couple of weeks later to find out my HR contact was no longer working on the interview process but MarketCast was still looking to fill to position. Fast forward to December. I receive an email to complete an online QRE from MarketCast with information from my September resume poorly inserted. It was actually so annoying to delete and complete the QRE I almost gave up half way (but I was on a flights so I just powered through). Fast forward to February 2017 I received an email from an HR assistant on a Tuesday afternoon to come in for an interview on Thursday at 5:00pm. No additional information such as who I would be meeting or what to expect. I had to ask about benefits, work hours, etc. I still didn't get an answer to my salary question. I went for this interview which took me an hour each way because of where the office is located and the time they requested the interview (FYI). I finally figure out the crazy and jammed packed parking lot and made it to the lobby. I had to show my ID to security before getting into the elevator. Security had to call up to MarketCast because no one put me on the visitors list. FINALLY, I was cleared and he let me up but no one was outside the locked door for me to actually enter MarketCast. Luckily as I was writing an email to the HR assistant (she never left her phone number) a MarketCast employee to come out of the bathroom and let me in. Okay, I am finally in the interview room (with littler air ventilation). I meet with two people from the team trying to fill the position. The job description they provided was NOT the job description I originally applied for. I applied for Research Manager position, they described report writing. Which I know is part of a manager's requirements but not the ONLY part. They asked a lot of questions about movie trailers I have recently seen on TV. Sorry its 2017, who is actually still watching commercials? Anyways, I can see the why previous/currently employees state there is an underline sexist vibe in the office. When I stated I saw an action movie in the theater, their response was, "Was that your husband's idea?" They also asked if I planned to see 50 Shades Darker. I left after 30 minutes and still slightly confused about the overall job requirements. I didn't receive an offer, but from what I have read online and my brief experience I dodged a bullet. It seems as though the job process is very regimented with little diversity. Not ideal for growing professionals, also they do everything in house (panel, programming, etc.) so there isn't a lot to learn here and apply at other MR firms. Also, the office seems really compartmentalized and disorganized.

      Research Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at MarketCast (Los Angeles, CA) in Jun 2015

      Interview

I only had a first round phone call with a recruiter, but the entire thing was extremely unlike anything I've ever experienced. First of all, the job posting itself was very vague. Its two main sections are "We are..." which describes the company and what they do, and "You are..." describing what kind of candidates they are interested in. Nowhere in the description, however, does it actually say what this specific role would do. I figured, hey, my background seems to apply, so I might as well submit my resume and see if I can learn more. I was contacted soon after by a recruiter, and that call was even more vague than the job description. The recruiter only asked me questions, including why I would be a good fit for this role, despite my not really knowing much about the actual role. I was not given any opportunity whatsoever to ask any of my own questions, and was not given any additional information about the job. I was told I would hear back regarding any next steps, but at that point I wasn't even taking the recruiter seriously anymore. I have been interviewing quite a bit recently, and have never come across any other posting that, after reading the job description and speaking to a recruiter, still made very little sense to me.
