      Graphic Designer Interview

      23 Jul 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Market Mentors in Apr 2025

      Interview

Probably a legitimate scam . Basic interview. Unpaid laborious design challenge. Read the other reviews and decided it wasn't worth my time (you get ghosted) . They told me I didn't have to do they design challenge so I assured them all the work they needed to see was in my portfolio and I'd like to continue interviewing. Crickets after that. They're always "hiring" creative roles that they ghost you for after making you do unpaid work?

      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Market Mentors (Springfield, MA) in Nov 2024

      Interview

First they reached out to me like they had a pressing need. I said okay because I'm looking for something better. Went through several rounds of interviews just to be ghosted with no feedback. Interviews are simple and follow the normal "fault-based" interrogation tactics, "what is your greatest weakness?" "what bothers you most when working in a team?" It is in between the interviews where it gets really weird. They would constantly ask "Are you still interested in the position?" Asked that question like 4 or 5 times. I guess I shouldn't be then? Sent an assignment which was too involved and provided no feedback after, just pushed me to the next phase of interviews. The ultimate litmus that they have an underlying culture problem is that they force you to take some personality assessment conducted by a consultant, that then forces you to retake the assessment last minute before interviewing with them. They mentioned they will share your assessment with everyone. It all felt very creepy and an overreach on their part. How about you mind your own business? This isn't a dating service, it's a job. Might put up with a personality assessment from a larger employer offering more money, not some podunk agency in western Mass. Overall was just a waste of my time and not appreciated in this type of job market.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate hearing different perspectives, as they help us continue to refine our process. Our interview process, including the assignment component, has been part of our hiring approach for more than 15 years. Along with a standard set of questions that we ask all candidates, the process is designed to ensure consistency, fairness, and alignment across roles. The assignment itself is a simulated exercise intended to help candidates better understand the type of work involved in the role, while also giving us insight into how they think and approach real-world scenarios. Participation is always optional, and candidates are free to decide whether they wish to move forward at any stage. We strive to be transparent and communicative throughout the process and regret that this experience did not meet your expectations. We wish you the very best in your continued job search.
