Walked in at scheduled time and a millennial clerk was surprised I was to be interviewed. Then, the interviewer comes out, doesn't introduce herself, and hands me a wicker basket, saying, "We do things differently here." She sent me on a scavenger hunt. She was very rude, uncommunicative and unpleasant. She acted as if I was bothering her time; it was obvious they weren't interested in me from the beginning since I didn't fit their age group. I'm in my mid 50s; they figured I was older since I keep my hair a natural color. After my hunt, they have me do some simple math test. Simple for me; probably many of their applicants fail. Even their initial job ad was rudely written, explicitly stating if the proper instructions were not followed, that person would not receive a reply. Then, they asked the stupid questions, including what I will be doing in five years. Really? Who asks that asinine question anymore. This was for a part time, $10/hour retail job. They told me they had other interviews scheduled, and that was a lie, since when my interview was scheduled, the final time was for 1 pm on 9/29, and I chose that time. It was obvious they weren't interested since I didn't fit their Millennial age group. I had previous retail experience and advanced degree in history, which probably helps in a store selling products with historical backgrounds. Still, that wasn't enough for this outfit, reason being they wanted a young person who would fit into their age group. I rescinded my application the following day with a detailed email.
