Very poor experience applying in Tallinn, Estonia. The first interview was with an HR who was really good. Second interview was technical with two developers with their native-language as russian who didn't even understand the questions they were asking. And before the interview an NDA will be sent you that you must sign. It follows the US laws even if you apply in Estonia. The first question was what is "useEffect" in react - I explained what it is. After the question the senior developer asked "but how do you unsubscribe from an event in useEffect". The answer they expected was that useEffect can return a function, but the question itself makes no sense at all. They also asked about mixins but after I explained how I have used them I realised they didn't even understand mixins themselves. Later I asked them a bunch of questions about their current applications and the answers were very poor as well. Feels like the language barrier to interview in English was too much for them to handle and asked questions that they had previously written down or asked CHAT - GPT and expected a 1:1 answer from me.

Interview
After struggling to receive a slot and having a call cancelled ten minutes before the start I managed to get into the second round. The technical conversation was not much fun, the interviewer seemed quite bored since we started. They seem to put a lot of effort into vibe coding, to the point of expecting developers not to write code at all, just guide the LLMs. I find that strange especially as they work within the cybersecurity field. I wonder if they'd fire the LLM if something broke in the code, or the developer instead.

Some red flags / areas of improvement: - I got called over the phone by HR. Would suggest to contact over email first - The tech interviewer did not have camera on - After I've spent 3 days on a tech assignment and next meeting was about to be scheduled, I was requested to sign and NDA. My guess is that it should protect the company by having me liable in case they tell something confidential. Had to decline, so it waste of everyone's time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I would suggest to at least move this NDA to the beginning of the interview, but ofc better to drop it entirely. I don't see how Estonian citizen is expected to know California laws.
