      Graduate Trainee Program Interview

      9 Jun 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Singapore
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mako Trading Group (Singapore) in May 2019

      Interview

If you have other more important interviews, please give this one a miss. Around 30 people were called in for interviews, however, they were only recruiting 2 to 3 people. Stage 0 - Submit resume and await reply Stage 1 - Assessment Centre Assessment centre consists of 3 stations. Candidates will be split into 3 groups and will rotate amongst the 3 stations (order of rotation varies for each group). Station A: Trading simulation Candidates are placed in a trading simulation. Ensure that you know the technicalities behind trading eg. Bid/Ask etc, or you will get wrecked big time. Simulation consists of 10 rounds and will be conducted twice. Each round, a card with a number from 1-100 is revealed. Candidates can Bid/Ask to buy lots. Goal is to make a guess that is close to the sum of the 10 numbers revealed each round. Assessors are interested in your thought processes and logic behind each move made, rather than the amount of profit/loss made. Station B: Tests Two tests. First test consists of about 60 MCQ questions to be completed in 15 min with focus on logic/numerical/pattern/verbal reasoning aspects. No calculators allowed. Negative marking does not apply here. Second test consists of about 60 MCQ questions to be completed in 5 min with focus on mental math. No calculators allowed. Negative marking applies here. Station C: Panel discussion Quick self introduction, two logical tests, a mental test and behavioural interview questions. Logical test 1: Imagine the Empire State Building is made up of $1 coins. Can it all fit into this room? Discuss amongst yourselves. Logical test 2: I have two envelopes. Take either the envelope with $500 or the other envelope which may give you anywhere between $250 - $1000. Which would you choose and why? Close your eyes, thumbs up for $500 and thumbs down for $250-$1000. Mental math test: Interviewer will ask each person a mental math question (eg. what is 347 times 43) in quick succession. You have until the interviewer gets back to you to answer the question. There is very little time to think so think fast. Behavioural interview questions: If you could bring anyone in the world to a party, who would it be and why? Who do you think is most deserving to advance to the next round? Stage 2 - Interview
