After a pleasant call from one of the company executives to set it up, I ended up doing an online interview. This made it possible to speak with three people on their team, including the person with whom I would have been working most directly. They actually did more talking than I did, describing the position, responsibilities and company culture, which was very helpful. It became clear that I wasn't the right person for that particular job, but I felt the interview was efficient and highly professional, while also being low-pressure and somewhat casual.
