First interview is with the talent recruiter and the second interview was with the person you would be reporting to (the manager). Felt that the talent recruiter and the manager were not on the same page. The job listing mentioned "great opportunity to work in a B2B tech start up" and a chance to "build a strong resume" which alluded to a more junior or entry level role. Before the interview stage, I submitted a series of four test projects. The instructions mentioned that all together the projects should take about 30 minutes... which actually was very unrealistic. I should have taken this as a red flag and a testament to how the company culture most likely is. Regardless, I received great feedback on my test projects and was scheduled for interviews. While on the first interview with the recruiter, he asked me if this is my first job out of university... (it's not, I've worked for many startups). He also confirmed that the salary range was $40-$50K which again alludes to a more entry or junior role. Interview with the manager went fine, but I could tell she was looking for someone more senior which I was shocked by given the low salary range. Received an email same day saying they were no longer moving forward with my application. The feedback was that they wanted someone with more prospecting experience. I appreciate the prompt response but wish they would have made this a requirement on their job listing. It would have saved us both SO much time. I felt that their job posting did a poor job of communicating what they were looking for and was very misleading.
