The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's (New York, NY) in Nov 2018
Interview
I applied to this at Bloomingdales and was not given a fair chance since they are more interested in their relationships with other schools and scouting rather than taking applicants from online. However Macy’s was completely different. I applied online and also researched recruiters on linked in and networked. First there is a phone interview basic questions on your interests and background. Then there is a critical thinking assessment and a retail math assessment with a formula sheet it’s very simple. Next there was a video chat interview on 10 questions on analytical situations or scenarios. Mainly how you
Work with teams and display leadership skills. Some people say this is a long process but it was all within a few weeks for me, I might’ve applied late. If you do well you will be invited to an on-site. The first day is meeting with executives and other EDPs. You will then do an assessment in store and take note of your observations such as merchandising, size and color penetration, trends, and how the company core values are implemented. RESEARCH! understand the magic of Macy’s and the North Star strategy. The next day there is 2 interviews, one on your observations the other on your experiences. Then a retail math assessment and followed by a case study with other members. this is to understand how you work with others and your understandings of retail concepts. This is challenging but worth it! I got the offer within a week. Do your research and understand retail concepts especially for buying and planning.

Question 1
How do you define success?
How do you deal with stress?
I applied through university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's in Oct 2013
Interview
Applied through my university's career center and was selected to interview on campus.
If selected to interview, you had to take an online assessment that is not hard, nothing to worry about. Takes about 30 minutes.
There were two 30 minute interviews with current Macy's employees. They had to ask you 4 questions each (total of 8 questions throughout the process) that were strictly behavioral. A lot of time was left over in each interview where they expected you to ask many questions of them, so come prepared with them!
Another online assessment is given that takes about an hour.
I was then selected to fly to NYC (all expenses paid by Macys!) for a two day on site interview process. Day 1 is about 4 hours where you spend the time learning more about Macy's. Day 2 is all day, very busy.
You complete a retail math test (incredibly easy, 13 questions, 1 hour to complete although it only takes 20 minutes to complete).
You have two interviews, one with an executive who asks you behavioral questions. The other one is with a person from HR and it is based off of your assessment.
Finally, you are put into a group to analyze a case. You have to analyze a case together then present it to an executive.
