Like most people I applied online and hoped for the best. A couple days later I also received the email asking me to schedule an interview online. My interview was schedule for two weeks after I got the email. I was applying for Macy's Cottonwood Mall (in case you live in Albuquerque, you'll know where it is).
I arrived there 30 minutes early because I had never been to that store. I followed the instructions to get to the office but didnt find it. Every associate there who saw me walking around the store were really nice and polite. Always asking me if I needed help. So this one lady was so nice to take me to the office.
When I got there, I was still early, so people inside just made me feel really comfortable finding me a seat and always coming back to check on me. I was the only candidate there.
My interview was supposed to start at 10:30, but it started at 10:20.
I talked to the manager who I'd work with.
She had all my papers and application read and full of notes. She asked me about my previous experiences in the US and in Brazil (I'm Brazilian). After a few common behavioral questions, she told me the position wasnt available anymore, but that she knew that another manager would need someone like me. (NOTE: I told her I would be available all day every day and that I was willing to learn from any department that she could put me in, not only for the one I was applying for). She said she would leave a note with my number to the other manager, who would be at the store only after 4pm. She said "wait for a call from her today after 4pm". She thanked me a lot (she was really polite, professional and overall nice) and the interview was over.
So after that, I didnt have a "yes" nor a "no". However, because I have been through so many interviews, I wasnt expecting a call from the other manager. And after a week I hadnt received any call, email, nothing.
So I kept looking for jobs.
It turns out that yesterday, (exactly one week after the interview), the same manager who interviewed me called and said she would like me to come back to the store today to fill out paperwork because she had found me a position in her own department.
When I got there to go through the paperwork, she was really excited to see me and introduced me to everyone around.
I am really thankful and excited to work with somebody so committed, professional and responsible.
