I applied online. I interviewed at Macy's (Bellevue, WA) in Nov 2011
Interview
Applied online, was emailed immediately for an interview the following week. I waited about 25 minutes for the interviewer to come get me from the waiting room because they were cranking candidates through.
Interview lasted about 20 minutes and I was offered a position on the spot. This was for holiday "Recovery/Replenishment" area. Training started two days later and involved sitting in a conference room listening to a floor manager read from a manual for 4 hours solid, then watching a couple videos about the history of Macy's on individual computer terminals.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
"Give an example of a coworker not pulling their own weight and how you handled it."
"Give an example of a coworker being dishonest or not acting with integrity."
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
