I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Beavercreek, OH) in Nov 2011
Interview
I applied for a Macy's seasonal position, for extra money, and to gain new work experience. I received an email to schedule an interview, scheduled it for 2 days later. The interview process was about 30 minutes, with questions such as "Why Macy's," and "Has there ever been a time where you had a conflict with a customer, what did you do?" There were about a total of 6-7 questions, all seemingly easy and related to customer service and sales. I was offered a position for the mornings part time, because I also have a full time job somewhere else in the afternoons. I accepted the offer, and she went over the policies, and a possibility for a permanent position with the company after the holidays depending on my work ethic, etc. All together the process was very easy, everyone was very nice, and I am excited to experience Macy's first hand!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you promote or sell in a department we needed you to work in, without knowledge of the items?
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
