I was contacted by a recruiter for the Sr. Software QA Engineer role. I had an initial phone screen with the hiring manager. I was then called onsite for in-person interviews. I was interviewed by 4 people, a developer, hiring manager, a QA engineer and a product manager. The interview was very basic, not too technical. Most of the interview focused on company culture fit and willingness to work in a start up environment. Some of the interviewers also said that they were very impressed with my experience and I was the kind of person they were looking for. All the people who interviewed me were very friendly. The very next day, I get an email saying that I was not at the seniority level they were looking for! Given the questions I was asked, there is no way they could have determined the seniority. My guess is that I was over qualified. Why would you hire someone who will make you look bad right?!
