For this role, the application process began with submitting a CV, followed by an online interview where candidates were required to submit video responses to various questions. You were given two minutes to think about each question before recording your answer, with the option to re-record up to three times after reviewing your initial attempt.
I was subsequently invited for a face-to-face interview the following month, which took place at their main office on Liverpool Street in London. On the day, I was surprised to find that I was the only candidate who showed up. The schedule initially included a group exercise and a face-to-face interview, but since no one else attended, I went straight into the face-to-face interview.
The interview was conducted by two interviewers and consisted of competency-based questions, such as why the role appealed to me and what I knew about the position. The interview lasted about an hour, and I found it comfortable and straightforward, with no complaints about the process itself.
However, my main issue arose after the interview. I was informed there were two days of interviews, and mine took place on the second day when I was the only candidate. Despite this, I never received any feedback, a confirmation of my status, or even a courtesy response to indicate whether I was successful or not. My interview was in early June 2024, and as of December 2024, I have received no communication from the company. This is 7 months with no reply.
I reached out three times via their recruitment email, but my emails went unanswered. Eventually, I learned through someone I know that the role had been offered to another candidate. I found this experience deeply disappointing and unprofessional. I invested my time and effort to attend the interview and even showed up when others did not, yet I was left completely in the dark.
I even delayed booking tickets for a holiday in case I was offered the role, which turned out to be pointless. This delay caused me to spend more money on tickets, only to receive no response whatsoever.
This lack of communication reflects poorly on the company, and I expected better especially due to MTR Elizabeth line presenting themselves as professional and modern company.
I would still apply for jobs in future but I would mention in the interview about my experience of not receiving any response in over 6 months since I was interviewed by them.
