I applied for this job through a recruiter and was told the salary was circa £40k per annum.
I was asked to attend an interview with the project manager, a rep from Human Resources and a member of the development team. The project manager wasn’t in attendance so I was told I needed to attend a second interview. When I turned up for the second interview a week later I was told the project manager had an emergency and couldn’t attend. I was asked to return the following week for the second interview. When I attended the interview I was questioned on my experience. The interview was with the member of the development team, the project manager and a business analyst. The interview went well and I was asked what my salary expectations were, despite this being asked previously and pushed via the recruiter. I was told that £40k probably wasn’t possible but they’d try and get me a good amount. 24 hours later I received a call from the recruiter, apologising profusely as the offer from MJ Quinn had come in and was £30k, with no room for negotiation. He had asked them why the interview went ahead when it was known what my current salary was (£40k) and what my expectations were, but this was ignored.
Basically I had wasted 3 weeks, about 3 hours worth of interviews overall. I would have been happier if the salary was clarified upfront, but instead the process was dragged out. I feel insulted to be completely honest.
