I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MDPI AG (Novi Sad) in Jul 2020
Interview
There were three stages of the selection process. The initial interview was done over skype with two HR representatives. It lasted around 40 minutes, the questions were standard job interview stuff. They also explained job details like salary and work hours. After that, I was invited to do a test which consisted of editing a text based on the directions they gave you. The test is an hour long and not too difficult. The last stage was a very brief interview with a group leader.
The whole process was pleasant and easy, all my questions were answered and the interviewers were friendly and polite.
It took around two months from the initial interview invitation to receiving an offer, so the whole selection process is a little long.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MDPI AG in Jun 2021
Interview
I've received an email from them after I've applied to the job asking me if I'm still interested. The interview consisted in a Skype call with someone that explained me what I need to look for in the test they'll give me but I wasn't previously announced there is this kind of interview or that is a test. After the training or the overview of what they need for you to pay attention to, I took the test that consisted in editing a text based on my training. After I've got my results I had a HR interview but they didn't mention the salary yet and they needed full time office work so I gave up. There was supposed to be another interview with someone from China.
Chinese interviewer read questions off a list, and wouldn't really engage in conversation. They rather misrepresented the scope of the job in the ad, turned out they wanted a proofreader.

There was an assignment with an excerpt from an academic article to edit according to a checklist and some very easy IQ test type questions.
