Initial phone screen interview with HR rep was really great. The rep seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say and the position seemed a good match. The position was a 25% pay cut and I wasn’t fond of their lack of Covid safety procedures or views, but I was advised about what the next steps would look like as “she was sure I would move on to the next step given my experience & knowledge brought me in in at the higher end of the role”. I waited around for 2 weeks for a follow up and finally received an email that my experience was too focused on the carrier side and this would cause someone to fail in the role, but “they would keep me in mind for future roles.” This was rather offensive to have that judgment made with no additional conversations and the HR rep appearing to be so impressed with my experience, list of degrees & designations, and views. I guess I dodged a bullet, given the pay reduction & having to work for a company whose values around Covid safety protocols didn’t align with mine.
