I applied online and received an email from their interim Head of Product for an initial phone screen.
It was not a great first impression that she was almost 5 min late to a 30 min call. She gave no additional information about the company or the role and jumped straight into interview questions and left no time at the end for my questions.
Her interview questions were basic questions and it was easily apparent that she had a specific candidate and level of experience in mind. The interview questions were fine, however, she does the company and team a disservice in the way the interview was organized and conducted. She was not respectful of my time for the call and even if it had been the right fit, I don't think I would have been interested in pursuing the role further.
It seems like a red flag if their Head of Product doesn't have the common sense to make the interview process a two-way conversation. It's pretty standard across large and small companies to make time to share insight into the company and role so that a candidate can make sure to share relevant experience and perspective.
