      Central Operations Manager Interview

      16 Jun 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lyft (New York, NY) in Jun 2019

      Interview

Process was standard. I wasn’t actively pursuing, but the team reached out via LinkedIn and it sounded like a pretty engaging role. I went through a preliminary call with the hiring team, and then was assigned a take home exam. Exam was about 45min-60min of excel and some quantitative stuff, nothing wild. Next was an interview with the hiring manager. Was supposed to be 30 mins, however he showed up late and cut it early after about 18 mins, asking one behavioral question. He was disengaged the entire time, making the interview largely a waste of time from my perspective. The hiring manager didn’t have any thought provoking questions, didn’t really dive into any of the metrics I presented, and seemingly had his mind made up already (as he was checking his phone and staring into space a bit). Since he worked previously at the company I’m at, he alluded to the fact he already knew about everything my role does, which his sector did not work with previously. Overall, a sour taste considering the pre-work for an interview just to be practically eliminated before saying my first words to the manager. Severe lack in soft skills, and this is the second time this has happened interviewing with Lyft.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lyft (New York, NY) in Oct 2021

      Interview

I was contacted by the recruiter after applying through LinkedIn. A few days after a phone screen (basic questions like "how are you with Excel?", "why are you interested in Lyft?"), she set up an interview with a manager. The manager hadn't seen my resume, which surprised me. Heard the next day that I hadn't move on. Overall, despite not getting an offer, I was happy with how expeditious the process was.
