      Sustaining/Manufacturing/Process Engineer Interview

      22 Oct 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lumileds (San Jose, CA) in Sept 2018

      Interview

Applied online but never got any feedback, not even automated rejection email. Got the chance through internal referral. First round phone interview with two senior engineers/ group leaders. Got an onsite interview invitation a week after the phone interview, and they have the most intensive onsite interview I have ever experienced. Onsite interview started with a presentation of my research, and followed up by meeting two interviewers every half an hour, covering all the possible manager/ engineers/ staff this position holder may involve with. I was exhausted at the end of the day. I liked the team that I got to meet, I think they are all very smart, professional and committed about their work. I would accept the offer if I ever got one from the team. My impression is that the most valued quality of this team is "think out of the box". The HR people were very responsive and efficient, amazing when I was still in the race, until I did not get an offer and then I was ghosted, no reply, and no explanation.
