I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Lucite (Nederland, TX) in Sept 2011
Interview
Coming in as an experienced engineer (5 years), I had a phone interview on Monday, an interview at the plant on Wednesday and a job offer on Thursday. I have been told that the process for engineers straight out of college is more difficult (2 or 3 in-plant interviews).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing came up that seemed particularly difficult of unexpected. Typical rotating interview with 3 people (safety manager, maintenance manager and plant manager)
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Lucite (Teesside County Borough, England) in May 2011
Interview
Technical & Aptitude testing on first half day of interview in a group setting with other candidates. Followed by an evening meal with various senior members and engineers from the site with other interviewing candidates. The second full day had a site tour with a BEI, technical and managements style face-to-face interview with various Site management & HR personnel.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The technical interview involves describing a very basic plant PFD and the interviewers pose various questions around reaction engineering, separations technology, heat and mass transfer. The process moves onto the interviewee having to decribe how the process could be optimised and what pitfalls there may be from a plant capital and operating cost perspective and also from a technical risk POV.
