I was contacted by a Talent Aquisition Recruiter and phone screened; I then was set up to have virtual interviews with the hiring manager and 4 individuals that would work closely with the role. The virtual interviews were over random days at random times (not back-to-back or ordered in any way) over the course of a week.
Two of my virtual interviews were excellent, but the other two left a lot to be desired. One individual was traveling for work and had to do my interview with the camera off as they were in an airport and it lasted no more than 12 minutes. The hiring manager was >10 minutes late to my interivew (I had to contact the TA Recruiter to locate them for me) and then proceeded to have the entire interview with their camera off.
I found out later through an internal source that I was basically a courtesy interview as they had referred me for the role and that the role was going to an internal candidate before I was even interviewed - an extreme waste of everyone's time and very rude.
As a bonus, I was told that I would be updated within 1-2 weeks. I was never updated, had to contact TA after 2 weeks only to be told "they were still making a decision," and then got an auto-rejection email 2 weeks after that.
