Initially I submitted an application online for the position of Engineering Technician I. I received an email from my current supervisor indicating that I had been chosen to interview by phone initially. I spoke with him the same day about my qualifications and the requirements that I did not meet. He indicated that I would receive a notification if I was to be interviewed in person. I was emailed about a week later indicating that I should schedule a time to come in for an interview.
My in person interview was held with my supervisor and his boss. They went over a lot of questions about surveying and design. My strong suite is in design and that seemed to satisfy them, even though I did not have any survey experience. At the interview I could tell that the environment was laid back and that the management would not micromanage.
Less than a week after my interview I was sent an offer of employment. All in all, they completed the hiring and interview process quicker than most consulting firms, and for a government agency, that says something.
