I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LinkedIn (Sunnyvale, CA) in Oct 2019

      Interview

Two back to back 1 hour phone screens - One Soft Skills and One Technical Since I was in the bay area I opted for a onsite as these were back2back interviews. From the get go the experience was not great. While I applied for a Senior Staff Engineer role, I was asked to apply for a Staff Engineer role instead as the one I applied got filled recently. That sounded like low-balling but that wasn't the bad part. It took three attempts for the coordinator to book the 2 interviews after a blackout for a week from the recruiter who made me literally apply for the role during the phone as she was impressed with my resume. First Attempt - Recruiting coordinator scheduled one onsite interview each for 2 days and that was rediculous Second Attempt - She then scheduled and confirmed interview one day before the actualy date and cancelled the interviews literally early in the morning on the interview day. Third Attempt - She scheduled interview and notified me at 7 AM in the morning for 11 AM interview. I was tired and wanted to be done with it so I said yes. But when I reached their office I was made to wait for 40 minutes as the coordinator wasn't available to receive me, then the interviewer was in SF office and not sunnyvale and then there was no room and then the room that I finally got didn't have a working video calling option As if these signs weren't enought I interviewed with this self obsessed guy who said he would finish the interview in 10 minutes so that I can still do the techncial round and how it was a waste of his time to even do this interview. Once the interview started, he kept on talking about himself for 40 minutes instead of asking me any real questions. I tried to interject and try to relate my experience with what he was saying but he wouldn't stop boasting about how damn good he was. The technical round was the only thing that went well but the interviewer was hung up with an optimaztion for a not so used flow in the algorithm even though I did mentioned to him the reason why I wasn't optimizing it for the flow I feel sad that I wasted so much time for this company

      Interview

First there is an exploratory call from the recruiter. The details of the open position, the fitment and the expectations are discussed. An email communication from the recruiter follows explaining the several rounds of interviews. Hints are provided for preparing well for the interviews. Thereafter, the process is swift - as per the availability shared by the interviewer, the interviews are promptly scheduled without any delay. The interviews happen. Interviewers are very cordial and professional. Good experience with recruiters as well as interviewers.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at LinkedIn (Sunnyvale, CA) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Wasn't really an interview. Interviewer wasn't really prepared for the interview. Recruiter said I would be interviewed as a mobile engineer but they sent a full stack engineer to interview me, who had no idea on what I was talking about. Interviewer instead tried to assess my seniority based on the number of people I had an influence over. Was asking questions about conflict resolution but wasn't really interested in the answer because it appeared that they had already made up their mind. Feedback was passed along directly to the recruiter right after the interview and recruiter sent a vague rejection right away, making it appear that they would consider me for other roles. Overall it was a pretty negative experience considering the interviewer cut the interview short. Ironic considering that LinkedIn is in the hiring and recruiting business.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Interviewer: Describe a challenging problem you are working on?
      1 Answer

      Question 2

Interviewer: Have you had any conflicts at all? Question posed in a way that assumed that I likely wouldn't have any conflicts to talk about, it felt like a rhetorical question because the interviewer was looking for reasons to cut the interview short.

      Interview

I had a weird interview experience for a Senior Staff Software Engineer role at LinkedIn. It’s called the evaluation round, interviewer himself is Sr Staff, and the interviewer was very aggressive in nature which surprises me how badly he prepared for the interview, a Sr staff showed zero empathy and compassion, and lacks interviewing skills. I do have a very great experience with other companies. While I m not surprised with the result, what surprises me is how come companies like LinkedIn don’t train Sr engineers on how to conduct interviews.
