I applied online. I interviewed at Lidl (London, England) in Nov 2013
Interview
The Interview process was easy. I did my interview in 2013 when the company was a lot different to what it is now to be honest. I got a phone call from the SOM asking to come in and have a chat after I applied for the role 6 months before. I later found out it takes lidl so long to get back to you because their ways of shortlisting candidates is by using very old technology, so a lot of applications are missed! So don't be disappointed if you don't get any calls.
Interview 1: Head of Operations Manager:
One on One Interview
She was supposed to ask me questions however it was evident she had no prepared questions and so we had a discussion/debate about how the foods market was going for about half an hour (E.g. Competition in market, Where the company will be in 2 years? Where the market will be in future? etc). More of a debate that you would have amongst your university peers, but it was good because I am passionate about food and business so I could contend with her knowledge.
Interview 2: Area Manager
After successfully getting through that stage. My next stage of the interview was to do a in-store trial with the local area manager where you had to perform a few tasks (I believe this part of the process has bee scrapped due to labour laws). I was asked basic questions about my background and about me and then told to perform some tasks around the store such as a stack shelves and fruit and veg quality check which I sucked at to be honest.
Got through and was given the job so it was all good.

Interview
The interview process was relaxed and the panel made you feel welcomed without undue pressure. Questions asked were as expected normal question in the industry for the role. There was behavioural question and a scheduling task to complete.
