I applied for the data engineer III role on a Friday and was contacted the following Wednesday for a phone screen. I had the phone screen the next day and it was very basic. The recruiter asked my background, why I was looking, and we discussed salary to make sure expectations aligned. I was contacted later that day about scheduling an on-site interview which I had the next Tuesday.
The on-site interview was with the hiring manager and a member of his team. The interview again was straight forward and lasted about 45 minutes. I thought it went well. But hindsight another person that was going to interview me but was late was about to come in and was waved away.
The job is basically about loading data via scripts provided by other teams. The scripts are then put into a template and run. There is an on call with the job that is about every two months. The hours would have been 8a-4:30p M-F. Their proprietary hpcc system runs on a language called ECL which they will train you on.
I sent them a follow-up email the next morning and a week later followed up with the recruiter. The recruiter ghosted me for a week and then finally got back to be a week after I emailed her and was told I didn't get the role. I wasn't technical enough for them. The only thing I see that I didn't have enough skills was in C# but Linux and sql I am a master in and the hpcc/ECL is proprietary and the company trains you on anyway.
Lexis Nexis is a great company and I had a positive experience and will apply for other roles.
