Interview
Applied online at ukfashionjobs.com - heard the next day and got invited for an in-store interview with one of the managers. Received an offer within a week after the in-store interview.
What would you do if you are speaking with a client and the phone is constantly ringing at the same time, while one of the floor managers at the department store is asking you a question?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Le Labo Fragrances (London, England) in Jun 2025
Interview
Le Labo under Estee Lauder is a still the same old steamy pile of...mess. And unprofessional employees.
I know store positions are considered low-end jobs, but it doesn't mean the interview has to be pathetically trivial and infantile, with questions such as 'if you were a colour, what colour would you be' that make you cringe internally so hard, you want to log off the meeting immediately to not hear yourself answering it. I think this is the kind of question you ask kids in the kindergarten to keep their creativity going? There are better ways to check if the candidate is fit for the position, talk about professional and relevant experience in-depth perhaps and ditch the banal HR spiel? They ask you about salary expectations, when they obviously offer a basic, low hourly wage. Unless I can negotiate £60k a year, just tell me what you pay and stop asking how much money I'd like, as if I could ask for £30/hour for a store job as a 'lab technician'.
Also, I never heard back after the initial interview. Absolutely unprofessional to not have even a standard copy-paste email saying thank you, but no.
Waste of time.
The interview was comfortable and straightforward. Get knowledgeable of their specific company lingo before hand to make an impression. There are multiple interviews in the process and they let you know of all the next steps and information during the interview.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Le Labo Fragrances (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2019
Interview
Informal sit-down & chat with manager and other high ranking employees, complete with questions about your work history, hobbies & strengths/weaknesses. They then dive into the history of the company and ask why you'll be a good fit, what you already know about Le Labo, what your favorite scent is, etc.
