      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LanguageLine Solutions

      Interview

The interview is all done on the telephone. You first receive an email confirming your online application has been received. If your profile corresponds to their requirements, a member from their Recruitment Department contacts you to confirm the details you provided in your application and conducts a preliminary role play with you and asks you for directions to the supermarket nearest to your house. You then receive an email that gives you a basic understanding of the position that they currently have a need for and details about the post. Another email containing details about an ‘Interpreter Skills Assessment’ (ISA) is sent. Glossaries relevant to each sector and containing key terms that could come up during your assessment is also enclosed to this email. The final email you receive from their testing team will confirm when your telephone assessment will take place. Your task is to interpret between an English speaker and a speaker of your other language in a role play which covers a medical, financial or insurance context. The ISA is conducted by their testing team who are based in the US who assess your interpretation skills in both languages. This assessment evaluates your ability to transfer meaning from one language into the other one accurately, without omitting or adding information, and with the use of proper vocabulary.
