      Specimen Accessioner Interview

      4 Feb 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Charlotte, NC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Labcorp (Charlotte, NC)

      Interview

I applied online via LabCorp's career website. The application consisted of your typical personality assessment questions. There was also a data entry test, which I admit I thought I did terribly on (was timed for 10 min or so with at least 20 questions but don't count on me to remember the exact number!). Truth behold I was called about 3 days later regarding my application from one of the managers. The phone screening call involved questions such as "are you comfortable working with urine, feces, and blood?", "are you willing to stay later than scheduled for late shipments", and the manager making sure you're aware of what the actual shift is. Basically the phone screening entailed that the applicant knows for what job they applied. After the screening process portion of the phone interview was done, I was scheduled to come in for a face-to-face interview 2 days later. When I arrived, I filled out some paperwork authorizing the background check, giving personal information, contact information, etc. before being called in for my interview. The interview itself lasted for may be 15-20 minutes, pretty easy-going. After the sit-down part of the interview was done, I was given a tour of the lab and was told that the dress code is pretty much jeans and t-shirt, sneakers and a lab coat. No offensive t-shirts, and as the interviewer/lab supervisor put it "we're all grown-ups here, we know what flies and what doesn't". I got a call 4 days later to be informed of being offered the job and that I will receive the job offer letter via email as well as a series of links to get the background check completed, as well as the registration to complete the drug screening to be done at a LabCorp location (of course) within 2 days. I did let them know I need to put in my 2 weeks notice with my present employer.

Very fast process! Pay offered is extremely low though. It looks great on your resume though if you are trying to step foot into the clinical world. Environnment is not the best, and can be very messy at times.
