I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at LEE

Phone screen with hiring manager. Very nice, and polite. Seemed very interested. Originally scheduled for 30 minutes, but we spoke for over 90 mins.
At the end, I was informed that they had an internal candidate for the role but appreciated the conversation.
Why waste my time when you had not intention of hiring me? Seems like poorly managed personal time (i.e. why would you spend more time than allocated if you didn't have any intention on hiring), or a lack of logical thinking. Advice to others: ask if there are internal candidates being considered (or in my case already selected) before spending time with these folks. I rearranged my personal calendar and meetings to speak to an organization that has a cool mission. Too bad I had this experience!
