I applied online. I interviewed at Kroger in Jun 2026
Interview
Interview was very brief and only asked me my previous employment history and availability. I was then given a run down of what the position would entail and had to sign a couple papers proving that it was explained to me. Overall not too bad and was very laid back.

Interview
I arrived to the interview 20 minutes early and I waited until the hiring manager greeted me by the self checkouts. We went upstairs to her office where she asked me several questions about why I wanted to work for Kroger and my availability. The interview took about 20 minutes and as soon as the interview was over she gave me a saliva drug test. She had me hold the little thing in my mouth for about 10 minutes and after she sealed it up, she told me that she will contact after my test came back so that we could schedule orientation.

Interview
Rote, simplistic, smarmy interviewer. Typical open ended questions regarding customer service. I got the distinct impression that I was being eliminated due to my age. I frequently shop at the store and there are very few employees over age 45.
Easy, very basic questions, pretty much just questions based on prior employment and contributions to team work.Easy, very basic questions, pretty much just questions based on prior employment and contributions to team work.
