After applying for the role and contacting the recruiter as I knew her personally I went through a numerical test. After going through the interview process it came to light that I did not have a degree, as outlined on my CV, the recruitment team had to double check that they were allowed to progress with me even though I would be right for the role as I didn't have a degree. It came to light that I could not be progressed as their policy as a business did not accept applicants with people who didn't come from that background even though they had relevant experience. I find it appalling that a company of such a large brand they are so narrow minded to the types of people they want to bring into their business. I am happy that I have not been progressed with as I would not have wanted to have worked in that culture and enforce that value as I feel (as a recruiter myself) that talent comes from all walks of life and experience and you are able to drive a business forward by looking at things differently. I hope they find the right person and really do look to change this policy in the future as they will not evolve as business without that. Please note this is not a reflection on the recruitment team already based there but by policy put in place at a higher level that are unable to be overridden. The interview itself was great and I really enjoyed finding out more about the business.
