      Interview

I met with several nice people. Then I walked into this one person's office and before I even said hello I could tell the interview was over. The scowl on her face was unmistakable. In my opinion it was because I was a guy. Really there are few other explanations since I didn't even shake her hand before her face dropped. I don't even remember the interview itself because I had enough situational awareness to realize the trip was now worthless. Afterward I called the recruiter to let him know, he was mad at me. Lol. I was trying to give him some pointers in the event he sent more people to meet with this person. He was absolutely determined that I did or said something wrong. I tried to tell him that I hadn't done anything. Anyway, guys...if you're trying to climb the ladder in HR you will occasionally run into this. Matter of fact, there will always be that ONE person who tries to bring you down or feels horribly threatened by your presence. Don't be discouraged. I am now head of HR at a large company and very happy.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Kraft Heinz (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

Exhaustive and Disorganized Interview Process Pros: • Met several senior leaders and gained visibility into different areas of the business. • Recruiters and interviewers were polite in conversation. Cons: • Went through 9 interviews across multiple teams and directors for an HR Manager role. • Process felt unclear and repetitive — often didn’t know which specific role I was interviewing for. • Told I was a “strong candidate,” but asked to interview again and again with no defined endpoint. • Final rejection came via a generic email, with no meaningful feedback after weeks of time investment. • Recruiter communication was poor — I had to chase updates, and even received an out-of-office message that was outdated by two months. • Overall felt like being put through a candidate carousel rather than a structured process. Advice to Management: Streamline your hiring process. Be transparent about the role, number of steps, and timeline. Respect candidates’ time — nine interviews without clarity or feedback is excessive and reflects poorly on the Kraft Heinz brand.

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kraft Heinz (Amsterdam) in Jan 2023

      Interview

I went through an initial screening, then a behavioral interview where they asked about managing conflicts and team dynamics. Next, a panel interview covered implementing HR initiatives, and finally, a case study tested my problem-solving. It was direct and challenging, but it showed me they’re serious about finding the right fit.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Can you describe a time when you had to mediate a conflict between team members? What was your approach, and what was the outcome?
