I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kontent.ai (London, England) in May 2023
Interview
I underwent a three-stage process, beginning with HR, followed by a meeting with the hiring manager, and concluding with a final step involving one of the other Sales Directors and a Pre-Sales Engineer. Throughout the entire process, I must say that everyone I interacted with was friendly and courteous. With each stage, my enthusiasm for the role and the company grew. Regrettably, something unexpected occurred, and I received the news that my application would not be progressing further. During the final interview, I learned more about their sales cycle, which involved conducting demonstrations for potential clients. They inquired about my experience in running demos. I confidently informed the team that I have extensive experience in running demos throughout my career, managing enterprise sales cycles from conception to closure. Following this interview, I was informed that they were seeking someone with more experience in overseeing an end-to-end sales cycle, specifically emphasising the ability to run demos. This came as a surprise to me, given that managing demos and webinars had been integral to my responsibilities as a Sales Director of 12 years experience. The only exception was my most recent employer, where the absence of a front-end UI for their API-based infrastructure products made it impossible to conduct demos. Expressing my disappointment, I replied to them seeking further clarification. Unfortunately, they chose not to respond. On the whole, the company appears to be pleasant with good people. However, their recruitment process leaves something to be desired, as evident from the unfortunate oversight that occurred in my case.
